Basic Internship Functions
This intern will be a part of the Nucor team responsible for the maintenance, reliability, improvement, and upgrade or equipment in our Melt Shop and Rolling Mills. This person will be expected to contribute to the performance of the team and to grow and develop the necessary skills that we look for in our Automation and Controls Engineers. This position is for full time hours (40 hours per week) during the 2024 summer break that might lead into part time work during school. Preferably looking for students that have interest in network, instrumentation, and PLC programming.

Minimum Qualifications

• Must be 18 or older
• Personal commitment to Safety in all areas
• Possess a positive attitude and a strong work ethic
• Strong communication (written and verbal) and interpersonal skills
• Commitment to grow and develop the skills necessary to become an effective maintenance automation teammate
• Capability to work alongside teammates in all areas of the plant
• Understanding of basic electrical theory
• Seeking experience in an industrial manufacturing environment
• Seeking experience in the use of electrical test equipment for troubleshooting
• Learning how to troubleshoot and program programmable logic controllers (PLC’s)
• Learning how to troubleshoot, configure, and program human machine interface software (HMI)
