Certified Medical Assistant

We are a pediatric medical office looking to add a medical assistant to our team. We are looking for someone with a positive, self starting attitude, good communications skill and excellent customer service. We strive to work as a team to provide the best medical care to the children in our community.

Medical Assistants are responsible for assisting Doctors and Nurses in providing care to their patients. They should be detail-oriented, as they must enter all patient data accurately in their records so doctors and insurance companies can refer to them. Medical Assistants should also have interpersonal skills so they can effectively work with patients and their families.

Daily tasks include but are not limited to:

  • Answering phone calls and scheduling appointments.
  • Obtain vital signs and measurements and document results in EMR.
  • Obtain laboratory, imaging results and hospital discharge notes for providers.
  • Use critical thinking skills to triage tasks appropriately to Nurse and providers.
  • Clean exam rooms.
  • Update patient history and medications in EMR system
  • Assist provider with procedures as needed.
  • Prepare and administer childhood vaccinations and input record into EMR and the state vaccine database.
  • Assesses immunization status through the state database.
  • Attends and actively participates in staff meetings.
  • Maintains respectful, courteous, and appropriate communication and interpersonal skills with all staff members, patients, and families.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Certified to practice as a MA or CNA.
  • Experience in medical records or data entry-preferred
  • Experience with childhood immunizations-preferred
  • Experience in EMR systems preferred

  • Ability to operate general office machinery (computers, calculators, copy/fax machine, telephones, etc.)

  • Skill in identifying and clearly communicating problems to the supervisor.
  • Ability to interact with children from 0-18 years of age.

Typical Physical Demands:
Occasional standing, walking, lifting, reaching, kneeling, bending, stooping, pushing, pulling and lifting and/or moving up to 25 pounds. Frequent sitting.

Pay: From $17.00 per hour
