What you will do as a Siemens Smart Building Specialist Intern
- This internship is a 10-week program where you will rotate through various departments at the local branch office, all focusing on smart buildings and sustainable infrastructure.
- 80% of your time will be spent on specialist (technician) related activities (visiting customer sites, classroom learning, on-the-job training and shadowing, etc.)
- 10% of your time will be spent with the sales department and learning how we go to market and sell our solutions and services
- 10% of your time will be spent in our projects (solutions) or service departments, focusing on the related tasks needed to deliver world-class service to Siemens customers
- You may get experience rotating through our core business segments, which include HVAC, Fire/Life Safety and Security Systems
- The goal of this internship program is to develop future talent for the Siemens organization and help you identify where you may be interested in pursuing a career at Siemens post-graduation
Responsibilities working alongside current Specialists and Operations Supervisors:
- Meet with the customers (for Service) to diagnose their HVAC/Building Automation, Fire/Life Safety, or Integrated Security electronic control system malfunctions and use your expertise to maintain, repair, or (for Solutions) install new equipment; commissioning if needed
- Consult with our internal engineering and management team for discrepancies in our drawings or as problems arise
- Interface with the customers: complete the service work documentation, assist them with training instructions needed for future ease-of-use, and (most importantly) recommend system enhancements providing a value-added partner relationship
To apply for the Specialist Internship Program, candidates must meet the following requirements:
- Must have a high school diploma or state-recognized GED
- Education: Student must be currently enrolled in a 2-year Technical College/School pursuing a certificate in HVAC/R, Building Automation, Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Energy/Sustainability and Built Environment or Computer Science
- Earliest Graduation Date: August 2025
- Availability: Ability to work 40 hours per week for the 10-week program (May-July or June – August)
- Relocation: Must be willing and able to work at the location on-site and surrounding local area. There is no relocation or housing stipend for this program
- Work Authorization: Must be legally authorized to work in the United States continually and permanently without company or school sponsorship. This program does not support students on a Visa such as F1, J1, M1, and H1B as well as OPT/CPT.
Additional Requirements of all applicants for the Specialist Internship:
- Ability to work in a variety of circumstances, including climbing ladders, scaffolds, and high-lift equipment; working in ducts, crawl spaces, roofs, basements, above ceilings, and in outside/inside/heat/cold/day/night conditions
- Must be able to use hand tools, laptop, email, smartphone, and tablet
- Must be able to carry and move equipment and tools weighing up to 75 pounds unassisted
- Ability to work in a team environment providing dedicated support to our customers
- Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel & Outlook). Skilled in using Windows laptops and adept at learning new software for programming and troubleshooting automation equipment.
- Good verbal and written communication skills in English

The hourly pay range for this position is $20 per hour for first-time Interns or $22 per hour for returning Interns. The actual wage offered may be lower or higher depending on budget and candidate experience, knowledge, skills, qualifications, and premium geographic location. Additionally, interns for Siemens are eligible to contribute to our 401K program.
