Job summary
Laborers work as part of a team to accomplish various tasks related to underground construction. They must work safely around heavy machinery and various tools of the trade. Assigned tasks will vary depending on the type and current phase of the job. Laborers are expected to learn each process through participating and asking questions.

Responsibilities
- Safely work around heavy equipment operation, bore equipment operation, rigging, and welding
- Personally, inspect all tools and equipment before use
- Learn about the different types of equipment
- Ask questions
- Follow direction of Foreman at all times
- Be a good example and team member.
- Prepare for work tasks at the direction of the Foreman and look for things that need to be done.
- Wear task-appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) required when completing tasks.
- Participate in daily job site safety measures including Job Hazard Analysis, crew stretch and flex, and toolbox safety meetings.
- Attend monthly safety meetings.
- Leave personal cell phone in your vehicle
Knowledge
- Keep all certifications (MSHA, Confined Spaces, First Aid/CPR, OSHA, and Railroad) up to date.
- Take ownership of completing tasks on Laborer knowledge sheets.
Physical requirements
- Stand or walk for extended periods.
- Use arms and hands to reach for, handle and manipulate objects.
- Frequently lift and carry materials or objects weighing 50 to 100 pounds without assistance.
- Climb up and down ladders and other objects while potentially carrying tools and equipment.
- Stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl.
- Ability to work in adverse weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as wind, rain, snow and sleet.
- Employees may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.
