Qualifications & Skills
- Proven experience operating a manual knee mill (Bridgeport style preferred).
- Strong ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
- Solid understanding of machining fundamentals (speeds, feeds, tooling).
- Experience working with common materials (aluminum, mild steel, stainless steel, etc.).
- Proficiency with precision measuring instruments.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
- Good problem-solving skills and mechanical aptitude.
- Reliable, punctual, and adaptable.
- Must be 18 years of age or older due to the requirement to operate specific equipment.
Responsibilities & Duties
- Set up and operate manual knee mill to produce precision parts.
- Interpret blueprints, drawings and work instructions accurately.
- Select appropriate tooling, speeds, and feeds for various materials.
- Perform in-process inspections using measuring tools (calipers, micrometers, gauges).
- Maintain tight tolerances and ensure quality standards are met.
- Deburr, clean, and finish parts as required.
- Troubleshoot machining issues and make necessary adjustments.
- Maintain a clean and organized work area.
- Follow all safety procedures and company policies.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively.
- Willingness to step in and support urgent or short notice jobs.
- Positive attitude and team-oriented mindset.
- Able to maintain the pace of the production schedule.
- Physical labor is a requirement of this position. Ability to work on feet all day and lift up to 75 pounds four feet in height. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, bend, walk, kneel, squat, twist and reach above shoulders, and work in small spaces.
- Regular, timely, and predictable attendance is required for this position.
Pay & Schedule
- Hourly Pay: $18–$28 per hour, DOE.
- Part-time / as-needed basis: This role is ideal for a machinist seeking supplemental income or a flexible second job.
- Flexible Scheduling: Hours are available across both our Day and Swing shifts. Our production window runs Monday – Thursday, 6:00 am – 2:45 am. We are happy to coordinate hours that work around your primary professional or personal commitments.
- Variable Hours: Generally, 0–20 hours per week depending on current production demands and project volume.
