About the Role
Torus is hiring Machine Operators to join our Production Team. Opportunities available for both entry-level and experienced operators. As a Machine Operator, you will be responsible for operating a variety of manufacturing machines and ensuring efficient, high-quality production in accordance with safety, quality and operating guidelines. The position requires technical aptitude, flexibility and the ability to multitask across various machine setups (press brakes, panel benders, laser cutters, and other CNC driven machines) to include operations, troubleshooting, and maintenance activities.
Level I 0–2 years of experience
Level II 2–5+ years of experience

Responsibilities

  • Operate, monitor, and maintain manufacturing machines (press brakes, panel benders, laser cutters, and other CNC driven machines).
  • Set up machines for production runs according to job specifications, ensuring alignment, calibration, and efficiency.
  • Monitor machine performance, make necessary adjustments, and troubleshoot issues to ensure smooth operation.
  • Perform routine maintenance on machinery to prevent breakdowns and ensure optimal performance.
  • Inspect finished products for quality, making adjustments as needed to meet production standards.
  • Maintain accurate production logs, including downtime, output and any adjustments made during the shift.
  • Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve production goals and deadlines.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and wear appropriate protective equipment and at all times to ensure a secure working environment.
  • Continuous improvement through education and/or training, as required.
  • Other duties and projects as assigned.

Required Experience

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 0-5+ years of experience working with manufacturing machine setup, operation, and troubleshooting.
  • Knowledge of commonly used hand tools, such as: drills, hammers, screwdrivers, wrenches, etc.
  • Basic understanding of machine maintenance procedures.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to work independently and efficiently under minimal supervision.

Preferred Experience

  • Technical certifications or vocational training in electrical or mechanical disciplines.
  • Experience operating CNC machines, press brakes, and/or laser cutting machines.
  • Hands-on building and fabricating are preferred.

Additional Details

  • Background Check All candidates are subject to a background check.
  • Location This position is onsite based in our South Salt Lake warehouse and works in an air-conditioned warehouse/manufacturing and cleanroom environments. A break area is available with refrigerator access, microwave, coffee maker, and drink/snack machines.
  • Schedule Full-Time + Hourly
  • Compensation $20-27/hour DOE (Note: We have the flexibility to hire at different levels, which may impact the corresponding pay range.)

Physical Requirements 

  • Must have the ability to safely lift and move objects weighing up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be capable of standing, bending, and executing repetitive tasks for prolonged periods of time.
  • Ability to read, identify, observe and recognize details, color-coding and fine print at close range on associated engineering drawings.
  • Ability to don personal protective equipment to include, but not limited to, respiratory protective equipment with proper seal, coveralls, ear protection, gloves, eye protection & safety helmet.
  • Ability to observe, detect and respond to audible and visual machine malfunction warnings.
  • Ability to communicate information so others can understand. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations.
  • Must report to work reliably and with the ability to use full and unimpaired skills and judgment to safely execute your job.
  • Proficiency in reading, writing, and speaking English required.
