Description
An Assistant Baker supports the lead baker by preparing ingredients, mixing doughs, monitoring baking times, and cleaning equipment. They ensure recipes are followed accurately to produce high-quality products while maintaining a clean, safe, and stocked workspace. This fast-paced role often requires early mornings, standing for long periods, and lifting up to 50 lbs.
Part-time shift Monday Tuesday, and Saturday included. 6am until done usually 11 or 12.
Key Responsibilities:
- Production Support: Measure ingredients, operate mixers, mix batters, and monitor ovens to ensure consistent product quality.
- Kitchen Maintenance: Clean and sanitize equipment (mixers, ovens, work surfaces) and maintain a clean, organized workstation.
- Inventory & Prep: Stock workstations with ingredients, prepare pans, and inform the lead baker of low inventory.
- Finishing: Assist with froisting, filling, or packaging finished baked goods.
- Compliance: Adhere to all health, safety, and food sanitation regulations.
Required Skills and Qualifications:
- Attention to Detail: Ability to precisely measure ingredients and follow recipes.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand for long periods, work in high temperatures, and lift up to 50–75 lbs.
- Basic Math Skills: Capability to scale recipes and understand measurements.
- Flexibility: Willingness to work early mornings, weekends, and holidays.
- Teamwork: Ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Experience and Education:
- Previous experience in a bakery or food service environment is often preferred.
- Food Handler’s Certificate may be required.
- Strong desire to learn baking techniques and advance in the culinary field.
Pay is dependent on experience.
