FINANCIAL AID MANAGER (Salaried)

The Financial Aid Manager is responsible for the overall administration, direction, and supervision of the Financial Aid Office. Reporting to the Student Services Director, the manager is responsible for the administration of student financial aid programs consisting of grants, scholarships, and other State or local student monies. The manager is responsible for compliance with the Department of Education’s Title IV regulations and establishes financial aid policies, as well as develops and provides leadership for the development of financial aid procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
1. Oversees all administrative functions of the Financial Aid Office by supervising all financial aid processes for awarding student grants and scholarship packages.
2. Monitors the Financial Aid Office budget including personnel needs and departmental operating expenses.
3. Develops student costs of attendance (individual student budgets) including tuition, books, fees, room, and board etc.
4. Monitors federal work-study expenditures, students’ satisfactory academic progress, federal and state grant expenditures, etc.
5. Reconciles student receivable accounts with the Business Office and supervises Title IV refunds and repayments for students who withdraw from school.
6. Interprets and applies federal laws and regulations, college policies and regulations, and state regulations relating to the delivery of student financial assistance.
7. Maintains College’s Financial Aid data to assure timely and accurate submission of required federal, state, and institutional reports.
8. Develops and directs financial aid strategies within the framework of federal and state regulations that are consistent with the enrollment management objectives of the College.
9. Utilizes and maintains the current Financial Aid module in the College’s student information system (Northstar). Ensures that the system is used effectively and processes and product enhancements are developed which are technologically up-to-date and user/student friendly.
10. Ensure that students are informed of their financial aid eligibility by developing and directing a system for collecting and evaluating applications and timely and effective awarding of all types of financial aid.
11. Contributes to student satisfaction through delivery of quality customer service in all aspects of the administration of financial aid and student employment services.
12. It is expected that the incumbent shall perform other duties as assigned within his/her capabilities as determined by management.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
1. Bachelor’s degree in finance, student personnel, or related area, and a minimum of three years of increasing administrative responsibilities for financial aid programs at a college or university or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
2. Knowledge of federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs and software. Familiarity with Campus Logic preferred.
3. Proficient with technical processes, scanning, storage, and Microsoft Office suite.
4. Experience with need analysis, counseling, and packaging aid.
5. Proficient in business math and interpreting management reports.
6. Ability to work under pressure to meet timelines and objectives.
7. Must demonstrate excellent customer service, organizational, and communication skills.
8. Must be dependable, flexible, and receptive to change.
9. Demonstrate the ability to work with individuals of all racial, ethnic, and socio-economic backgrounds.
10. Spanish-speaking proficiency desirable.

SPECIAL REQUIREMENT:
Ability to travel to workshops and conferences on behalf of the College – Ability to work flexible work schedules including evenings as needed.

SALARY HIRING RANGE: $48,787.00 to $51,000.00

WORKING HOURS: Monday – Friday 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
May be required to work some evenings.

  • Additionally, there is no Social Security deduction –The current tax rate for social security
    is 6.2% for the employer and 6.2% for the employee,combined 12.4%. The College does not contribute the employer portion to social security. Instead, we invest this percentage amount into a 401k account on behalf of the employee. You will receive the 6.2% employee contribution as net pay or you can choose to invest it.
