COMPOSITE/PLASTIC FABRICATOR INSPECTOR (closes 04/03)

Responsibilities
Inspect all composite or plastic parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies or structures with straight and curved surfaces that have a number of interconnecting parts and components that have been repaired, modified or overhauled.
Perform a complete inspection of equipment, all aircraft surfaces for damage, integrity, deviations and other out of tolerance conditions affecting Low Observable (LO) coatings and related components after work has been completed on the aircraft.
Conduct and witness inspections and tests on a variety of fabricated and repair work performed by others on structural and nonstructural airframe components, equipment, and completed airframes affecting Low Observable coatings and related components.
Utilize safety practices and procedures following established safety rules and regulations and maintains a safe and clean work area.
Note defects, identify parts and components to be replaced, and keeps records on inspection work sheets.

QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4300 Pliable Materials Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time.

The screen out element for this position is ABILITY TO DO THE WORK OF THE POSITION WITHOUT MORE THAN NORMAL SUPERVISION.

JOB ELEMENTS: Your qualifications will be evaluated on the basis of your level of knowledge, skills, abilities and/or competencies in the following areas:
1. Knowledge of Equipment Assembly, Installation, Repair, etc..
2. Technical Practices (Theoretical, precise, artistic)
3. Use of Measuring Instruments
4. Ability to Interpret Instructions, Specifications, etc. (Includes blueprint reading)
5. Ability To Use and Maintain Tools and Equipment. Knowledge of Materials

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work encompasses standing, bending, stooping, stretching and working in strained and cramped conditions. Frequently handles, lifts, and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts and moves heavier items with assistance from others or with weight lifting equipment. May be required to uncrate or load and move metal/composite parts and other repair items.
